Welcome to the picture journal I kept, as we built the Grade A Dairy!

I have been raising Dairy goats now for several years to provide the milk supply for my family. I've also had many people wanting to buy my extra RAW Goat's milk from me. When WA State Law makers added new language to laws regarding the sale of RAW milk in 2006 (making cow/goat shares illegal to do so unless you were licensed with the State & adding fines), I started looking into what it would take to become licensed.

So, after much research, speaking with (and viewing) other Grade A Goat Dairies in the area, and discussing my situation with the local Food Safety Officer (Inspector), we decided to take the plunge!

So, the next five pages of pictures will take you throught the process we took as we built the addition to the existing barn, to add the rooms we needed for the Dairy!

We added a Milk Room "the clean room" (where I strain & bottle the milk), a porch in front of the milk room that is covered and one end houses a fridge for customers to pick up their milk from, a new Milking Parlor (where I will be hand milking my girls on metal milk stands), and a covered storage area where we can put equipment and other things that need to be under cover!

Here's a blueprint of the Dairy!
